Lobelia (Lobelia Inflata) is found in Eastern and Central America and parts of Canada. It is an annual herb, 40-70 (90) cm high, with a fibrous root system composed of thin roots. The stem is up straight, slightly branched, slightly pubescent, contains milky juice. The leaves are alternate, 3-10 cm long, elongated-ovate, thin, glabrous, dark green in color. The flowers are bisexual, small (5-6 mm in length), light blue or bluish-purple. The fruit is a box. Seeds are small, yellowish-brown, numerous with a small germ and abundant fleshy endosperm. It blooms in June-August, bears fruit in August.
