This organic Guatemalan coffee from the region of Huehuetenango has the chocolate-nutty flavor you love, with a sweet cream and hint of fruit. The growing region of Huehuetenango (pronounced way-way-tenango) is on the border of Mexico and is a great Central American coffee because of its chocolate and nutty tastes and heavier body. This particular coffee is from a co-op called FECCEG which has been in existence for 30 years and teaches farmers sustainable organic growing practices, bird-friendly practices, and provides village farmers with purpose and opportunity. Co-ops such as this help farmers band together, gets them Fair Trade and Organic certifications, and helps them get their coffee to the global market. This is our second lot of Guatemala coffee from the same region, Huehuetenango, but a different farm. We chose this one because the coffees both have very similar characteristics. This coffee has the chocolate-nutty taste that you would expect, but also comes with creamy sweetness and a hint of fruit. We roast it to a medium-dark profile to bring out these delicious flavors.
