Made using unoxidized green tea stems known as Kukicha, we use a high-temperature roasting process to turn this tea a rich toasty brown. Our green tea stems are harvested from the Kakegawa region of Shizuoka, where they are grown in a sustainable way that has been recognized as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System by the UN. Sugimotos Favorite Hojicha has a natural sweetness and a body-warming, roasted aroma, making this is a lovely, very low-caffeine evening treat that can be steeped multiple times.
Steeping Instructions:
For best results, brew using a traditional Japanese teapot (kyusu) with a wide belt style inner mesh. Use 1 Tablespoon (3 grams) of Hojicha in 10 Ounces of hot water (200 F or below) and steep for 1 - 2 minutes.
